When Marie asked for transformation stories, I was initially going to pass since I'm not yet at my goal. But when I looked back at my picture (left), I see how far I have come! I also want to take this opportunity to make sure everyone knows that Marie and 614Fitness is not just a studio for super-fit marathon runners!
I started my journey to a healthy me in Jan 2016. I initially focused on calorie counting, adding fruits and veggies and introducing basic exercise. I did the NoBoundaries couch to 5K program twice - as well as the Movement class -- both of which gave me access to Marie's core class and where I first heard about 614Fitness.
I was nervous to come into the studio at first but after attending a couple of talks at the studio, I saw a wide variety of people and decided to give the gym a try. I'm so very glad I did - Marie and her trainers have been great! They modify exercises where needed and push me just far enough outside of my comfort zone to challenge me and make me learn and grow. I've made amazing progress in my fitness this year, learned exercises I didn't even know existed (ever heard of a plank jack??), and most importantly, made a whole new group of fitness focused friends (the 614 FitFam).
What have I been able to accomplish this year?
Moved up through various levels of modifications to being able to do full exercises
Set new PRs in terms of both distance and speed on my bike as I train for Pelotonia
Walked Cedar Point for an entire day (32K steps) without any discomfort
Made fitness a key part of my regular life - it's no longer something I'd doing just to help me lose weight!
I know I can't out exercise my fork (I have tried it!) and I'm not where I would like to be yet in terms of weight loss but I'm on the right path and confident I will get there with the help of the team at 614 Fitness.
