Getting injured turned out to be a good thing.
Last fall while training for the Columbus Half Marathon, I injured my tibia. Something called the dreaded black line or stress fracture. Anyhow the news was pretty hard to take. All my running buddies were getting ready for the next season. I sent Marie a message that I needed her help on how to get through this.
We met and she inspired me to make the most of my time during the healing process. She even wrote me a modified workout to do with my boot on! All I could think about was how to get my body physically ready to run again.
I began to think differently about the way I was eating and I needed to know how to support my healing through nutrition and supplements. I knew the challenge would be getting my weight down so that when I am able to run again I lower the chance of re-injury. Over the last six months I have been sticking to it. Eating healthy, taking the right supplements to support my body and working out.
Down 25 lbs!
Every week while I’m working out I walk around the studio with a 25lb dumbbell thinking to myself, how did I run carrying this much weight?
